Today, Microsoft revealed that its popular Xbox One racing sim, Forza Motorsport 6, would be receiving a new competitive online racing mode and esports initiative called Forza Racing Championship.
Debuting this September, the Forza Racing Championship is suitable for all players of Forza Motorsport 6 regardless of skill level. Offering a number of open and competitive competitions for all, Forza Racing Championship’s big pull is that it will offer not only bragging rights among friends but real-world prizes, too.
Unfortunately, Microsoft and Forza 6’s developer, Turn 10 Studios, has remained silent on what these real-world prizes may be and just how often new competitions will arise in the Forza Racing Championship. It may be worthwhile tuning into Microsoft’s E3 conference next week if you are interested to find out more. You can also check out the trailer for the new esports event below.
In preparation for the launch of the Forza Racing Championship, and to celebrate the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing competing in the 84th running of the 24 hours of Le Mans event, a 2016 Ford #66 Ford Racing GT Le Mans car will be free in Forza 6. The car will be distributed via digital codes sent to your Xbox account, though the blog post did state it could take up to seven days for players to receive the virtual keys to their new car. In order to test out your new car, a Le Mans-themed Rivals even is coming to Forza Motorsport 6 this week as well.
