It’s all for the community.
Now here’s an interesting decision made by valve: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or CS:GO as it’s more commonly known amongst fans, will not be giftable during the Steam summer sale. This means that while you can purchase it for yourself, you won’t be able to purchase it as a gift for anyone on your friends list.
A number of Reddit users noticed that they weren’t able to purchase it as a gift, and Valve has responded with their reasoning:
“CS:GO will not be giftable during the sale. Our goal with sales is to grow the community and historically, during sales, the new users that stick around are mainly the ones that purchase copies for themselves.”
Not only that, this move will likely prevent users from selling off their digital copies of the game at a higher price through third-party sites. Nevertheless, it’s a pretty smart move made by Valve, and it’s nice to see them keeping the game’s community in mind.
