Double kill!

To kick off their E3 presentation, Bethesda announced Quake Champions, the next entry in the long dormant series. Champions will be a return to the multiplayer mayhem that fans know and love, with jump pads, big monsters, and bloody action.

After an action packed and dark trailer, studio head Tim Willits got on stage to talk more about the game. The series that’s known to define competitive multiplayer will return as another arena style FPS for the PC. It’s supposed to be great for anyone, whether they’re “new to Quake, or fragging champions”. Like with any id game, it’ll be fast and run at unlocked framerates to deliver “heart-stopping action”. Champions is designed with eSports in mind, and during launch, Bethesda will have competitive tournaments and leagues for players to get into.

QuakeCon will feature Quake Champions this August, so if you’re heading down, give it a whirl. Unfortunately, if you were looking forward to it being on your consoles, it’s gonna be PC exclusive. Sorry.
