Well that’s a surprise.
During their Final Fantasy XV presentation to kick off E3, Square Enix announced a brand Final Fantasy XV game called A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV. The game is set 30 years in the past before the main game, and revolves around a bedtime story that King Regis tells Noctis.
A King’s Tale is a retro style sidescrolling beat ’em up, that has you playing as Regis. Many of the abilities from the main game will transfer over like warp strike, parry, dodge roll and aerial attacks. The game launches on September 30 along with Final Fantasy XV, and is a retailer exclusive for Gamestop/EB Games. It’s playable on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and the first trailer will be debuting later at Comic Con.
