In a virtual reality headset far, far away…
It’s been known for some time now that a PlayStation VR-exclusive Star Wars: Battlefront ‘experience’ was coming, but now we know it’s confirmed for a 2016 release, meaning, as long as the PSVR sticks to its October date, they should release fairly close to each other.
Developed in partnership with EA and DICE, the Star Wars: Battlefront VR experience will be powered by DICE’s Frostbite engine, the same engine that made last year’s Battlefront look so impressive. These details were revealed during a Q4 2016 earnings call.
“Our unparalleled Frostbite engine will power more of our games this year, including an all-new Star Wars Battlefront experience for PlayStation VR,” said Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Director at EA.
While the news of being able to experience Battlefront’s visual splendor in VR is exciting, we still know nothing about it. The fact it’s being labelled as an ‘experience’ would lead you to believe it isn’t necessarily a full game, but unfortunately all we have is speculation.
