Microsoft confirmed backward compatibility for multi-disc Xbox 360 games after the first became available just days ago.
Xbox One will now support backward compatibility for multi-disc 360 games—like the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut—Xbox Live director of programming Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb confirmed today.
“I can confirm that the team has done work to support multi disc scenarios,” he wrote. “Be sure to thank the [backward compatibility] engineers.”
The first multi-disc game to join the backward compatible games lineup is Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut, which arrived on Xbox One earlier this week. The original version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been backward compatible on Xbox One since December 2015, when it was noted the Director’s Cut would come in early 2016.
We’re hoping that Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3—which also use multiple discs—are next on the backward compatible list. Mass Effect, the first in the series, is currently available on Xbox One.
