In a recent press release from Microsoft, the company announced that nearly 1.4 million people tried the Gears of War 4 beta.
Players gained early access to the beta through purchasing the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and their early access to the beta lasted from April 18-24. The open beta ran from April 25 – May 1, allowing Microsoft to gain some value feedback ahead of the release date, as Gears of War launches on October 11th of this year.
The release also spoke to the overall global engagement of Xbox One users in April 2016, which Microsoft claims was the best in the history of the Xbox One. While no sales numbers were revealed, Microsoft did state they expect Gears of War 4 to be their “biggest game this year,” and the beta helped “test and shape” the final product.
Microsoft also stated that over 9 billion hours of gameplay has been logged since the launch of Windows 10, which also include April releases Quantum Break as well as Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, the latter launching on Windows for the first time ever.
