Deus Ex: Mankind Divided released a new trailer today, one that lacks any gameplay, but gives you an idea of what the world is like. Set two years after Human Revolution and the Aug Incident that caused all augmented people to go lethally violent, the fallout has now left augmented humans as outcasts from normals in what’s called an era of “mechanical apartheid”.
While the trailer starts out like an Apple ad, showing off sleek new augs and attractive people using them in every day life, it eventually gets to be more sinister. Families are split apart, hate groups are formed on both sides, and Augmented get their limbs torn off and beaten with them. The acting is cheesy, but the trailer successfully gives you an idea of what to expect when you boot up the game and see how things have changed. If nothing else, the game now definitely lives up to its title.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided comes to the PS4, PC, and Xbox One on August 23.
