Will the dead rise, again?
Capcom’s recent financial results may offer a hint at the developer/publisher’s plans for the future of the Resident Evil franchise.
Spotted within the financial results by an eagle-eyed NeoGAF user, the company uses the phrase “full-scale offensive” in regards to the future of the series as a whole. Does this hint at a brand new Resident Evil game before the end of the financial year on March 31, 2017? Read the quote below and decide for yourself.
In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the company is scheduled to release (…) Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked it’s 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year.
Unpacking the quote slightly, it would appear as though the release of Umbrella Corps would act as the initial part of a plan for the release of another Resident Evil product, possibly before the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017.
Umbrella Corps is still scheduled to release on June 21, just a week after E3 2016.
