The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth has finally been given a solid release date on both the PS4 and Xbox One. The PlayStation Blog has announced the expansion will be available on May 10.
Afterbirth is an expansion to the base game which adds new features to the dungeon crawler. Two new characters are added named Lillith and Keeper, plus 10 additional challenges, nine new transformations, co-operative battles, and new achievements.
It was first announced the game would be coming to the consoles on April 1, leading many to think it was an April Fool’s day prank. The Afterbirth expansion is also coming to the Wii U and 3DS, but an exact release date has not been specified.
The Binding of Isaac was first released in 2011 and has seen a lot of controversy due to its dark themes relating to religion and child abuse. Originally, Nintendo wouldn’t allow the game to be released on the 3DS and an iOS release was blocked by Apple. Despite this, The Binding of Isaac has gained a large following and received favorable reviews.
