Despite only having been officially revealed last week, EA’s fourth-quarter earnings report confirms that EA will be including both microtransactions as well as map packs in Battlefield 1.

In the report, CEO Andrew Wilson said the following:

“Given that in Battlefield 1, you will see both macro monetization opportunities from us like maps and large scale content, as well as micro monetization opportunities, smaller increments of gameplay, and then over time, what you will see from us is elements of gameplay that allow gamers to engage and drive, and extend and enhance their experience, much the way people do with FIFA Ultimate Team or Madden Ultimate Team today”

Gamers worried about the possibility that Battlefield 1 will be a pay-to-win game will be happy to hear that Wilson also said that, “We never want to be in a place where there’s a belief that we are providing a pay to win mechanic inside of one of our games.”

Battlefield 1 is due to be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 21 and EA recently announced that gamers who pre-order the “Early Enlister” edition will get the game three days early.
