During Activision’s earnings call, the company addressed the most recent update for Destiny and how it managed to bring back a number of lapsed players.
Activision’s CEO Eric Hirshberg said: “So Destiny has nearly 30 million registered players now and our April content successfully reengaged the community and was very well received. We think engagement has remained remarkably strong, even after the release of some competitive games in this genre.
“But it’s clear that our fans are hungry for more content than we’ve been able to create and that passion and loyalty from our fans is something that we don’t take for granted, which is why we’re working side-by-side with Bungie to make sure that in the future, we’re able to deliver a more consistent stream of great content and drive even more engagement.”
Will these encouraging words mean Destiny returns to a schedule of constant updates akin to Year One? While that would certainly make fans of the game happy, we’ll have to wait and see what Activision has in store for the game.
