In case you needed a reason to go kill a bunch of enemies.
Added as part of Update 1.1, The Division now offers players daily and weekly assignments. But not content with just leaving it at that, each weekly assignment will follow a continuing week-to-week storyline.
Though teased last week, it was unclear just what this would entail until the first weekly transmission released this morning alongside the new update. In the video, which you can find below, players are introduced to Simon, the man seemingly in charge of taking care of the ISAC computer system (the robotic voice you hear throughout The Division). As someone tries to hack into the system, and find Simon, he tasks you with helping to protect him.
The first step is to clear out the growing Cleaner presence in the Dark Zone. As such, part of the Weekly Assignment includes killing 50 Cleaners in the Dark Zone. As for what the specific rewards are for completing each individual step of the weekly story, if there are any at all, we will just have to wait and see. Currently, the video seems to just work as a nice bit of context for what could otherwise be a mindless mission.
