The Chinese Room, developer of hit indie games such as Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Dear Esther, and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, has fired a shot at The Witcher developer CD Projekt RED.
GameSpot published a Tweet about CD Projekt RED’s new game Cyberpunk 2077 which featured a scantly clad futuristic woman. The Tweet from GameStop read: “Cyberpunk 2077 is more ambitious than The Witcher on every single front.”
The Chinese Room then retweeted the image with the title “But just as sexist if that image is anything to go by…”

The Witcher series is known for being adult and does allow the player to have sexual relationships with female characters in the game. However, many Witcher fans would argue that there are strong female characters in The Witcher games and that this accusation of sexism is unfounded. Given the hugely positive response The Witcher 3 received, it seems most people didn’t find it offensive.
Based on the comments to The Chinese Room’s Tweet, it looks like a lot of people disagree. Do you think The Chinese Room makes a good point, or do you think their comments are unfounded? Let us know in the comments.
