Star Fox Zero Has a Heartfelt Tribute to Satoru Iwata

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo, President, Star Fox Zero

Thank you, Mr. Iwata

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s former president, passed away months ago but his influence is still strongly felt within the gaming community. He’s been honored at events like The Game Awards, GDC and the BAFTA awards in the last year.

Iwata was an integral piece of Nintendo, and had a hand in many of the company’s games including Star Fox. Fans might even remember the Star Fox Zero reveal at last year’s E3, that featured puppet versions of Iwata, Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto turning into characters from the game.

During the credits sequence of the upcoming game Star Fox Zero, a line on the bottom of the screen reads “This game is dedicated to our wingman who fell in battle.”

You can see the clip in the video below, which is timed to the spot where the line appears. If you want to watch the video from the beginning you can, just be warned that you’ll be spoiling some of the credits scenes from Star Fox Zero.

It’s definitely subtle, but is a lovely gesture to a man that meant so much to so many people. Thank you for everything, Mr. Iwata.
