Star Fox Is Getting a Special Animated Short Before the Release of Star Fox Zero

Star Fox Zero

Directed by Shigeru Miyamoto with help from some great anime talent.

For the first time the Star Fox series will be getting an animated short, titled Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins. Nintendo announced that the short will stream live on Nintendo’s website this Wednesday, April 20 at 3 PM PDT.

The animation was made from a collaboration by the game’s director Shigeru Miyamoto, along with WIT Studio and Production I.G. (Attack on Titan, Ghost in the Shell) and stars the game’s original characters. Take a look at a teaser for the animation down below. Following the stream will be a special live presentation from Nintendo’s Treehouse localization branch, focusing on Star Fox Zero and its companion game Star Fox Guard.

Star Fox Zero launches April 22 on the Wii U, and is the first console game we’ve seen from the series since Star Fox Assault on the GameCube in 2005. First print retail copies of the game will come with Star Fox Guard, a tower defense companion game. Guard can also be purchased individually on Nintendo e-shop.
