Romancing SaGa 2 Remaster Coming West on iOS and Android Devices

Romancing SaGa 2, iOS, android, west, north america, release, mobile, localization

The classic RPG comes to the west.

Square Enix has announced a localization for the remastered version of Romancing SaGa 2 on iOS and Android, and released an English trailer. The remaster of the 1993 Super Famicom games released in Japan March 24, 2016 and the game is now coming to North America for the first time.

The story of the games spans multiple generations as players assume the role of multiple rulers in the Varennes Empire. A freeform scenario system allows your choices and actions to change the world over time and expand the capital of Avalon. Advancements can lead to new characters, equipment or options for your city. If your leader dies in battle or after a long life, you have to pick a successor, who will inherit the previous leader’s abilities and carry onward.

Experimenting is important in battle, as even using different weapons or martial arts can teach characters new techniques. Battle formations also play a role, and decide what characters are capable of as well as who’s more likely to be attacked. If a character doesn’t possess Avalonian blood and ascends to the throne, they might learn new formations by speaking to soldiers at the training grounds.

The remaster provides a few updates to the game as well. The background graphics have been specifically updated for this release, and new animations have been added to battles. In addition, the game has four new dungeons, the Avalonian Garden and a New Game + mode.

A price and release date has not been announced for Romancing SaGa 2, but you can take a look at the English website for the game here. Make sure to watch the new trailer down below as well.
