Overwatch’s Digital Comic Is out Now, Check out McCree in Action

McCree stars in his own Train Heist!

The countdown to Overwatch continues and Blizzard doesn’t appear to be letting the hype train slow down one bit. Following the release of two character-spotlighting animated shorts, Recall and Alive, Blizzard today announced the release of a digital comic book starring everyone’s favorite hard-boiled Overwatch gunslinger, McCree.

The comic, entitled Train Hopper, takes a spin on a classic Western story, the train heist. The story features McCree travelling as a “passenger” on a train that becomes the stage for an attempted heist.

Unlike the two animated shorts, Train Hopper does not contain an opposing character for McCree to battle against but instead pits him against the mysterious Opción Dos, a paramilitary organization attempting to recover a strange artifact. Train Hopper therefore marks the first time a piece of Overwatch media has moved away from the direct battles between Reaper’s group and Overwatch agents, opening fans up to the wider world the events of the game inhabit.

Although taking a stylistic step away from Overwatch and the animated shorts, Train Hopper captures the irreverent fun Blizzard’s FPS is becoming known for and McCree shines through as a laconic homage to Clint Eastwood.

Overwatch releases for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One on May 24 2016.

Which character would you like to see star in the next comic? Let us know in the comments.
