The milestone was announced via Nintendo UK’s Twitter, and it shows an enormous jump from when the app reached 1 million users after releasing in Japan.

Miitomo is a social networking app that centers around the use of Miis. Users are asked a number of questions about a variety of topics before relaying the information between friends.

Miitomo is the first of five smartphone apps planned by Nintendo and designed alongside mobile developer DeNA. Their partnership was announced last time as part of Nintendo’s branching initiative into the smartphone market, as well as the first ‘reveal’ of their ‘dedicated games platform’ currently known only as NX.

The social networking app is doing incredibly well, sitting pretty at the top of the iOS chart also. We’ll have more to share on what remains for the rest of Nintendo’s mobile plan when they reveal more.
