You gotta do what you gotta do
With the huge surge of people bombarding The Division’s servers when they went live earlier today, the game didn’t have the smoothest launch, and it only got worse when you reached the first Safe House.
In the very first Safe House you step into in the game, you have to head over to a laptop on a table by a bunch of JFT soldiers. You hold down F on PC, Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One to interact with the laptop so you can progress in the story. This seems pretty straightforward, right?
Well, it turns out that mixing this with a huge amount of players trying to all do it at the same time doesn’t work very well. With the huge amount of people all trying to interact with the laptop at the same time, the servers just wouldn’t allow anyone to progress in the story, regardless of how many times they tried. All seemed lost until PC players united and created a genius plan to bypass the problem.
Reddit user joshhubi took a screenshot of the measures that PC players had to take just to progress through the tutorial of the game. Now this is some serious teamwork and coordination right here. We particularly appreciate the guy in the game chat telling other players “don’t cut”. The photo included below was accompanied by the following description from joshhubi. “We cannot get past the welcome mission. Hitting “F” to activate the laptop does not work. We assumed it was due to all the players in the safe house trying at once so we formed a line…..”
It sucks that it had to come to this, but when push comes to shove, gamers know how to fix a problem!
On a side note, did anyone else notice that Geralt has decided to take a holiday to Manhattan for the weekend? Looks like he’s become an agent following his adventures in The Witcher 3.
