There are dedicated groups and forums for both players who love to ruin days and those who seek to keep order in no-man’s-land. Imagine what could be done if Ubisoft decided to provide full Clan support. Rankings, perks, rewards, and more could be implemented, further adding life to an already socializing environment.
This must be something that Ubisoft is aware of, though. Back in 2013 around when The Division was first revealed, the company did a Q&A session with fans on its official blog. At the time, clans were indeed part of the plan, and the development team was intending on putting no caps on their sizes. The team even went on to say that, “We are also looking to have a very extensive web-based clan support system for all players in The Division.”
There was no further word on the matter until January of this year, when the developers revealed briefly in a video that “at this point there is not a clan system,” without explaining why the change had come to pass. There’s no telling when, or even if, they plan on revisiting this idea, but it would certainly be nice addition.
For now, there are other means to create The Division clans. Head over to the Division Clans website and you can create a group, or join one of the many available. It isn’t officially supported, so the only reward you’ll get is camaraderie, but that’s the ultimate prize, isn’t it?
Everyone playing The Division is a member of the same agency, so we are all one huge clan when you stop and think. But, let’s be honest, official clan support could lead to exciting new avenues for rewards and experiences. Let the Agents make their own small armies to take back New York City in earnest.
