So far so good in 2016 for Sony.
The PlayStation 4 was again the highest selling console in a single month, beating the Xbox One in units sold throughout February, repeating on the console’s success in January.
Sony announced the news today ahead of the overall NPD Group’s report, due later this month.
“We would like to thank our fans and partners for making PlayStation 4 the top-selling hardware platform and the software sales leader in February, according to NPD,” Sony said in a statement (via Gamespot) released today. “We continued to see strong year-over-year sales growth for PS4 hardware and software and are truly humbled by the support and enthusiasm from gamers. We will continue to deliver amazing gaming experiences with the upcoming launches of Ratchet and Clank, MLB The Show 16 and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”
It was previously reported that the PlayStation 4 had sold nearly 36 million units as of January 2016, however full sales numbers were not disclosed in today’s report.
Coming in second place in hardware sales for the ninth time in ten months to the PS4, Microsoft released its own statement covering the month of February 2016.
