Ark: Survival of the Fittest Mode Is Now a Standalone Game

Will also be free to play!

The Survival of the Fittest mode found in Ark: Survival Evolved is becoming a free standalone game, which the developers say is built for eSport gameplay.

The move to separate the arena multiplayer game mode from the main survival game is similar to what Daybreak Games did with H1Z1 last month, with the developers splitting the game into H1Z1: Just Survive, and H1Z1: King of the Kill. Unlike Daybreak Games, Ark: Survival of the Fittest will be a free to play game.

The game will have four different game modes to suit whether you want to play with a group of friends or by yourself. These modes are Free for All, Two Player Tribes, Four Player Tribes, and Six Player Tribes. All four modes will have a leaderboard, with the system called Survivor League, and each month the developers will be giving away $50000 to the top ten ranked players in each leaderboard.

The key features for the standalone game can be found on this Steam post. Some people will find interesting is that Ark: Survival of the Fittest will have its own soundtrack from Gareth Coker, the composer being the Ori and the Blind Forest original soundtrack. Others will be happy to find out that there will be a spectator system in the game.
