Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct gets some killer visuals.

New characters aren’t the only addition that’s coming in Killer Instinct Season 3. The game will also look better thanks to an overhaul of the graphics and lighting.

Killer Instinct’s art director Chad Greene explained the changes to the engine in a recent interview. When PC and Xbox One players play the game in March, they’ll notice a completely new look to the game’s stages and characters.

We are adding new graphics technology; reflection tech for the stages; re-introducing screen space color adjustments that work with gameplay; adding an all-new dynamic lighting system that provides greater realism and interaction for the characters and stages.

Developers Iron Galaxy Studios have learned to better utilize the Xbox One hardware in order to update all of the game’s lighting and color palettes. All of the stages in the game, including previously released ones, will be updated with new graphics in Season 3.

This blog post also confirms that Season 3 will add three new stages. Five characters are coming to Killer Instinct as well, including Rash from Battletoads.

Killer Instinct Season 3 will be available on PC and Xbox One in March. Which new character are you looking forward to playing? Let us know in the comments.
