Does LEGO Marvel’s Avengers Hint Where the Series is Going in the Future?

Could Thanos be the future of the LEGO series?

The LEGO series has a tendency for teasing the next game in the series during the credits of their most recent game, and it looks like LEGO Marvel’s Avengers might have continued the trend. Back in 2014’s LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, a large T-Rex could be seen scaling a building in the background as the credits rolled. Unsurprisingly, this was teasing the LEGO Jurassic World game which released just over six months later.

Even though we already know that the next LEGO game will be focusing on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s possible that LEGO Marvel’s Avengers hinted at more Marvel content for the future.

Let’s start with the first half of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. After beating the first Avengers movie’s story mode, players are shown a little teaser of Thanos listening to a very familiar cassette player. If you’re a Marvel fan, you were probably able to pick up on this hint very quickly. The cassette tape that Thanos is listening to is a direct nod to Guardians of the Galaxy.

In the 2015 hit movie, the character Star-Lord (played by Chris Pratt), was very connected to his walkman. He would often be listening to it on his quest to save the galaxy from destruction. With Thanos listening to the cassette tape, are the developers hinting at a future LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy  game? While it may not be featured as a full game, it does stir up some speculation for Star-Lord and Co. to make an appearance one way or another in the future.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers had one more hint at another potential entry into the LEGO series. After beating the Age of Ultron story mode, players are once again shown a teaser starring Thanos. This time the infamous villain, says “Fine, I’ll do it myself” while taking his gauntlet out of the washer machine. The action Thanos is doing is completely for laughs, but what he does say is what needs to be taken note of.
We know that Thanos will be a main figurehead in the upcoming Marvel movies, primarily in Avengers Infinity War Part 1& 2, so this calls for more educated speculation. While it is a possibility that Traveller’s Tales are merely putting their own quirky spin on the movie’s closing clips, could it also be hinting at a new LEGO Marvel game that ties in all of the movies in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It’s certainly a possibility considering it would fit with the conventional format of the LEGO series.

Looking at previous games in the series, Traveller’s Tales doesn’t just add these little teasers in for no reason. If you played LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, you may remember the teaser of Black Panther flying out in front of the sun, which made him look like Batman. It may have seemed like nothing at the time and you wouldn’t be blamed for just taking it for granted, but a little while after, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham was announced.

Do you guys want to see another LEGO Marvel’s Avengers game, perhaps Infinity War Part 1? Or would you like to see the LEGO series head in a completely different direction with something like The Walking Dead or The Simpsons? Let us know in the comment section below.
