A little bit more far, far away.

Instead of coming out in the series’ classic May release, Lucasfilm has announced Star Wars: Episode VIII has been pushed back 7 months to December 15 of next year due to writer-director Rian Johnson working on the script in response to the strength of new trilogy characters Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).

While their roles are expanded, it’s said that the roles of two unspecified characters will be reduced. The Rian Johnson-directed film is said to begin production sometime in February, with the entire cast from The Force Awakens set to return. Yes, everyone from that movie. You won’t have to wait too long for more Star Wars, though. The first anthology film, Rogue One, will be hitting theaters later this year on December 16. Still, in the meantime….
