Earlier today, the gaming PC hardware and peripheral company CORSAIR announced via press release that it now owns the custom PC building business ORIGIN PC (not to be confused with EA’s Origin digital distribution platform).

CORSAIR sells a sizable lineup of PC hardware components, including keyboards, mice, desktop towers, and RAM chips. Likewise, ORIGIN PC offers a wide selection of desktops and laptops with customizable components, including parts produced by CORSAIR, that cater to PC gamers of all kinds. ORIGIN PC especially caters to those who are intrigued by building custom PCs but aren’t ready to take the plunge.

The press release states that future select ORIGIN PC builds will offer more CORSAIR hardware options, most notably CORSAIR’s recently announced Hydro X series of custom cooling systems. Moreover, all future ORIGIN PCs will come packaged with CORSAIR’s iCUE software, which allows users to easily control and synchronize the LED lighting, settings, and cooling of all compatible PC hardware. The companies have more product integration planned for the future, but they aren’t ready to announce these plans just yet.

Even though CORSAIR now owns ORIGIN PC, they will still be separate brands. More importantly, this acquisition does not affect pre-existing ORIGIN PC warranties, purchases, and support, which is good news for anyone who bought an ORIGIN PC product with non-Corsair hardware.

“With the gaming PC market continuing to expand as an increasing number of players make the jump from console to PC, we wanted to do more to reach customers in North America that prefer to buy, rather than build, their system,” CORSAIR Founder and CEO Andy Paul stated. “With ORIGIN PC’s expertise in personalized custom gaming systems and CORSAIR’s strength in performance PC hardware and the iCUE software ecosystem, we’re excited to combine our efforts to create new world-class gaming experiences for PC gamers.”

The CEO of ORIGIN PC Kevin Wasielewski mirrored Paul’s enthusiasm. “CORSAIR is a fantastic partner to help take ORIGIN PC forward, known for creating quality, high-performance products that fully align with ORIGIN PC,” explained Wasielewski. “With a complete range of enthusiast PC products, ORIGIN PC and CORSAIR are uniquely placed to create amazing new systems that make the experience of owning a personalized custom gaming PC better than ever.”
