Part of the intrigue of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen was the addition of Bitterblack Isle. This area, meant for those over level 40, is full of extremely dangerous beasts, mysterious paths, and extremely rare gear. The opportunity to obtain some powerful weapons definitely has any Arisen new to the world of Gransys itching to get there; the problem is, you can’t just walk there.

In order to gain access to this challenging area shrouded in mist you must wait for nightfall. The first night will fall after you’ve completed the opening quests that get your character all set up. It’s at this point that you’re informed of something interesting on the Cassardis docks. Head there, and you will find a blonde-haired woman awaiting with a lantern and passage to a new land. Agree to accompany her and you will find yourself on Bitterblack Isle.

Once you’ve made it here, you can activate the Portcrystal in the area, enabling fast travel. It is a very difficult area to survive if you’re a low level, so don’t get tempted to charge in blade first at the very beginning of the game. Bide your time, and once you’re powerful enough you can go and teach those beasts who’s really the scariest in the land.
