It’s currently Twinfinite’s Game of the Year week! All week long, our Editors and Writers will be nominating games from this year that stood out in 2015. Today, Senior Editor Ishmael Romero tells us why Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is worthy of being Twinfinite’s 2015 Game of the Year.
Ubisoft is one of the companies that is known for great games, yet they are also known for delivering some extremely questionable experiences. Take the Assassin’s Creed franchise for instance, it began as a huge foray into the world of Assassins and Templars but after becoming annualized certain installments suffered dearly. The core experience and focus on history based narrative with a futuristic twist was always retained, but the delivery and fidelity didn’t always hold up.
Ubisoft was in a rut and they needed a way out fast, especially after all of the bad publicity they received in regards to Unity. The only thing that the developers really needed to do in order to save face was deliver something that worked. Build a world, put some interesting targets in it, and make sure faces and framerates remained as they should. But instead they went above and beyond and created what is not only one of the best Assassin’s Creed games ever, but one of the best games of 2015.
It was a daunting task, but with a few wise decisions and brilliant ideas they made it happen. And it all started with two amazing siblings.
