Released in 2009 on consoles and 2013 on PC, Brutal Legend is a Tim Schafer directed action-adventure/real-time strategy hybrid. It’s a cult classic from the minds behind Grim Fandango and Psychonauts. The game is heavily influenced by Tim Schafer’s own musical experiences and features a world inspired by heavy metal album artwork. The theme of heavy metal runs throughout the entire game, which contains over 100 licensed songs from the genre. On top of this, several metal legends lend their voices to some of the characters, including Rob Halford, Lita Ford, Ozzy Osbourne, and the late Lemmy Kilmister. Jack Black – star of Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny – voices main character Eddie Riggs, and is as funny as always.

Brutal Legend currently has a very positive rating on Steam, with 94% of users rating it positively, so you should definitely take the time to grab it for free while you can.
