The good news for those hoping that Final Fantasy VII Remake is staying on target is that, well, as of right now the release is going ahead as planned. At least digitally, the release should go off without a hitch and that’s the hope for the retail version as well.

That leads us to the potentially bad news though. Square Enix in the same statement, acknowledges the very real possibility of COVID-19 related problems effecting the timely distribution of the game physically.

In other words, Square Enix isn’t sure how things are going to shake out in terms of shipments making it retail stores in a timely matter or if stores will even be open to sell the game by the time Final Fantasy VII Remake is released. Like everyone else on the planet, no one knows what’s going to happen next.

Essentially, this is kind of just stating the obvious but it’s something that’s worth putting out there as it’s probably a question that Square Enix is receiving often since the Coronavirus outbreak began.

Right now your safest bet is to plan on buying your copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake digitally if you want to have the best possible chance of playing the game on time.

If any of the above information changes, Square Enix has promised to update fans once again, and we’ll be sure to cover it as well.

Assuming everything goes as planned, as appears to be the case of the time of this writing, Final Fantasy VII Remake will release on PlayStation 4 on April 10. If you’d like some new backgrounds in the meantime, here you go.
