“Destiny 1 Didn’t Release New Content Fast Enough,” Says Activision CEO

Shouldn't be a problem for the sequel.
Destiny 2 Officially Announced

Destiny was one of the most anticipated games of 2014 and brought us a galaxy to explore along with some great shooting mechanics and online gameplay. However, some players felt the game was a bit light on lore and story and it was hoped future expansions might solve this.

Whilst the expansions did go some way towards adding more to the world of Destiny, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg explained in an interview with GI.biz that he felt new content for Destiny wasn’t delivered fast enough.

“I have not been happy with the cadence [of new content]. We got a lot right with Destiny 1, but one of the things we didn’t do was keep up with the demand for new content. I feel like that, as great as [DLC packs] The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron all are, clearly there was appetite for more.”

To remedy this for Destiny 2, Activision has hired both High Moon and Vicarious Visions to work alongside Bungie to create new content.  “That will allow us to keep an even more robust pipeline of content in the ecosystem,” said Hirschberg.

It looks like Destiny 2 will keep what made the original game great but is aiming to improve upon its flaws. If done right, this could make the sequel truly great. Destiny 2 is set to be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, whilst a PC release will follow on October 24.
