After a day of endless mystery, Ubisoft has finally revealed their mystery game. And it is, as a lot of people were suspecting, Far Cry Primal. The game will be set in Oros during the Stone Age and have you playing as Takkar, the sole survivor of a hunting group. This time around, you’re the prey and everyone’s gunning for a piece of your tasty flesh.
Given how previous entries for the series were set in the modern day, players won’t have the luxuries of guns and jeeps this time around. Instead, they’ll be getting around by using boats or just plain hoofing it, and you’ll be defending yourself with spears, clubs, and bows. Talk about simpler times.
Anyone hoping for a complete overhaul should probably temper their expectations. Far Cry Primal should be viewed as an “off entry” for the series, similar to Blood Dragon in 2013. So think of this as Blood Dragon. Just, y’know, without the eye bleeding visuals and synth music. You can check out the trailer up above.
Far Cry Primal hits the PS4, Xbox One, and PC February 23, 2016.
