Here’s what we can expect to find in the Stone Age.
Ubisoft’s Far Cry series is stepping into the Stone Age, and we finally have the first details on Far Cry Primal’s world and main character.
Far Cry Primal takes place in Oros, a “breathtaking valley of redwood forests, harsh taiga, and human swamps.” It is here where Takkar, the sole surviving hunter of his tribe and the game’s protagonist, will battle with nature and fellow humans for survival. The environment poses as great a threat as warring tribes, with woolly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and other megafauna dominating the land. Takkar will be voiced by Elias Toufexis, the actor known for giving Deus Ex’s Adam Jensen his iconic grit.
The prehistoric setting will touch classic aspects of Far Cry gameplay, putting a new spin on hunting and outpost capturing. Weapons and tools will be crafted from animals bones, fire will enhance attacks and scare off wildlife, and the scent of fallen prey may attract other, more dangerous predators to your kill.
The official reveal trailer gives us a glimpse into the dangers of Oros, as the protagonist faces a mammoth, saber-toothed tiger, and warring tribes on his path to “conquer Oros and save mankind.” Ubisoft plans to take the Far Cry series into a world of mayhem, “bringing together massive beasts, breathtaking environments, and unpredictable 360-degree combat in one savage package.”
Far Cry Primal is slated to release Feb 23, 2016 on PS4 and Xbox One, with the PC version available in March.
