Playing Aliens: Colonial Marines
Back in 2013, Colonial Marines released on a foundation of false promises and misleading gameplay trailers. Much to the dismay of Aliens fans across the world, the gameplay shown in numerous trailers prior to its launch was nothing like what player eventually got to play for the hefty $60 price tag.
This wasn’t scary in the traditional sense of jump scares or large amounts of suspense. The fact that the whole thing got taken to court, where Sega eventually had to settle the case for $1.25 million, gives you an idea of just how unexpectedly awful this game was. Colonial Marines is a horrifying example of scaring fans, and not for the right reasons.
