Good news fighting fans, Capcom has announced that there will be no on-disc DLC for Street Fighter 5. In an interview with Game Revolution, Capcom producer Matt Dahlgren said: “There will not be on-disc DLC, for sure.”
In the past, Street Fighter has been no stranger to on-disc DLC. 2012’s Street Fighter X Tekken had on-disc DLC which featured 12 “downloadable” characters which were supposedly exclusive to the PlayStation Vita. It was discovered later that both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions also had these characters locked off on the disc. Capcom tried to defend this by saying there is “effectively no distinction” between on-disc DLC and downloaded DLC apart from the delivery method.
It’s good to see that Capcom isn’t going to make the same mistakes with Street Fighter 5. All future DLC for the game will be either available to download and purchase online or unlock it through playing the game. Street Fighter 5 is due to be released in 2016 on the PlayStation 4 and PC.
