Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows Infects All Consoles Next Week

What a horrible knight to have a plague.

Shovel Knight launched last summer to a great response, but Yacht Club Games haven’t taken time off to bask in their success. They’ve been developing new playable characters, and the game’s first expansion Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows will launch on September 17.

Plague of Shadows stars Plague Knight, the cloaked villain who prefers projectiles over a shovel. A gameplay trailer was released a few weeks ago, but Yacht Club Games has given some additional information on the Plague of Shadows expansion on their website.

An updated manual shows off some of Plague Knight’s unique abilities and his unique bomb crafting mechanic. Plague of Shadows will also feature new characters, new bosses, and new stages.

This free expansion launches on every console that Shovel Knight is available for, and Yacht Club is even providing a code to unlock the mode for anyone who hasn’t completed the main game’s campaign.

Will this new DLC get you back into Shovel Knight or are you waiting for a future expansion? Let us know in the comments.
