New Dragon Quest Builders Details Reveal Creation, Collection, Construction, and Monster Raids

So Block Making RPGs are now a genre?

Square Enix has revealed some more news for the upcoming Dragon Quest Builders. According to their press release, Dragon Quest Builders gameplay will revolve around creation, collection, and construction.

While players will be able to use the items that they’ve collected to create new ones, some of the game’s resources will require players to apply “additional treatment.” The press release also noted that while players will be free to create what they please, they will be able to use “blueprints” to easily construct specific buildings and items.

In Dragon Quest Builders, players will have to revive the world and its towns using their special powers, while also watching out for the forces of the Dragonlord. The game will feature traditional monsters from the Dragon Quest series (like Slimes and Ghosts), but players better watch out because the Dragonlord will use his forces to try and prevent players from reconstructing towns through a new mechanic called “Monster Raids.”

Dragon Quest Builders is due to come out in Japan for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita on January 28, 2016.
