343 Industries recently outlined some of the changes that will be coming in the next Halo: The Master Chief Collection multiplayer patch. According to the post, the new patch is “near completion” and it will add new “systems for quitting and penalties.”
Along with these new systems, the patch will also include some fixes to the game’s playlists. For example due to community feedback, Team Doubles will be tweaked so Halo 2 Classic and Halo 2 Anniversary don’t dominate the playlist, hopefully adding some map variety. On top of that, Team Doubles will be getting a new system where players will be presented with three slots. In the first slot, players will be presented with a Slayer BRs option from one of the four games. The second slot will have the objective game type, and the final slot is there in case players don’t prefer the Slayer BRs or the objective game type.
Meanwhile, Team Hardcore will be getting slightly more map variety since they will be bumping down the weight of certain Halo 3 maps such as Narrows and Heretic as they appear in multiple game modes. Halo 4 will be getting the Ricochet game type on the Skyline, Pitfall, and Haven maps.
Staying with the maps, Halo 2 Classic, Halo 3, and Team Snipers will be getting more map variety. For Team Sniper this means that the mode will be added to a bunch of maps from multiple Halo games while a bunch of Halo 2 Classic and Halo 3 maps will be getting reduced appearances.
These are just some of the changes that the next Halo: The Master Chief Collection patch will be introducing. You can check out the rest of the patch notes here.
