Final Fantasy XV’s combat is getting a new lick of paint.
The director of Final Fantasy XV Hajime Tabata took to the game’s official forums earlier today to talk about the changes in Final Fantasy XV‘s new weapon switching system.
While the forums are (naturally) in Japanese, Siliconera has translated and paraphrased Tabata’s announcement, revealing details on Final Fantasy XV‘s new system that will allow players to switch through their weapons while attacking, instead of assigning weapons to attacks.
Players will be able to switch between four main weapons in real-time by using the up, down, left and right directional buttons. Siliconera also reported that this new system will replace the Break→Rush→Slash system from the Episode Duscae demo to prevent players from accidentally switching their weapons and interrupting their timing. Finally, players will be able to use commands such as Counter and Raid without the need to set them to anything if they wish.
By the sound of things, this new system will make combat feel more involved and more fast-paced, sort of like in the Tales games. Hopefully Square Enix will release a trailer soon so we can to see the new weapon switching system in action.
Final Fantasy XV is due to come out for the Xbox One and the PS4 sometime in 2016.
So what do you think of this new gameplay system? Let us know in the comments below.
