Xur Selling Gjallarhorn Was Completely Random, Bungie Confirms

Who would’ve guessed?

As the Destiny community rejoices over the selling of arguably the most powerful weapon in the game, Bungie makes it clear that no thanks should go to them.

A spokesperson told Forbes that “Xur is always a mystery… they don’t know what he will bring each week.” It seems this wasn’t some clever ploy by the developers to make fans who have been toiling over the elusive Gjallarhorn happy.

According to that little insight, it turns out that Xur was always able to sell Gjallarhorn just as he did when the game first released. The reason he never did was simply because his random code didn’t tell him to. It really is just a matter of coincidence that he’s selling Destiny‘s most sought out weapon while it is at the center of attention.

With The Taken King a month away and the enticement of new exotics (as well as more powerful legendaries), Bungie could have easily had a hand in giving a bit of joy to the millions of guardians in Destiny. But all thanks must go to Xur, who in his infinite wisdom and tentacled stare always knows just the right time to put the best weapons on the market.
