A month back we learned that Square Enix would be joining the greats of Sony, Microsoft, Bethesda, EA, and Ubisoft, hosting their very own dedicated press conference at E3 2015. Typically when you hear the name Square Enix you think RPGs – Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest – you get the picture. However in the last decade they’ve acquired the Taito Corporation – responsible for classic titles Space Invaders and Bubble Bobble, as well as Eidos – the company behind such greats as the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, and Hitman franchises.
Their line-up of games each year has been typically spread out between the various pressers, never quite having enough to merit their own conference themselves. Now it’s looking like we may very well be entering a new Golden Age for Square Enix, with many of their most beloved franchises getting new entries over the next year or so. Some have been anticipated for many years (I’m looking at you, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III), while others like the new Deus Ex have only just been announced. There’s more than enough to look forward to and get excited about, so let’s take a look at just what we can expect to see from this powerhouse next month.
