Ubisoft Drops South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Head on down to South Park, gonna meet some friends of mine.

Last year, Ubisoft and Obsidian Entertainment released South Park: The Stick of Truth, a faithful adaptation of Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s iconic comedy TV show. You’d think that after that and Pillars of Eternity, we wouldn’t be seeing a sequel, and yet here we are today, kicking off the Ubisoft E3 conference with South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

As Parker and Stone put it in the conference, they swore after Stick that they wouldn’t do another video game, then decided “screw it,” and thus Fractured was born. This time around, Ubisoft San Francisco is taking the reigns, and once again, it’s an action-RPG with classic characters. The new New Kid will arrive at the titular town, and the characters we know–Cartman, Kenny, Kyle, and so forth–are back for the ride, dressed like their superhero counterparts. You can expect the series’ classic humor to return when the game releases in 2016.
