Developers over at Massive Entertainment have revealed that the mobile companion app that was supposed to launch with The Division has officially been canceled as it would’ve improperly affected player’s gameplay experience.
In an interview with IGN, Massive Entertainment said that the app would’ve “created an imbalance,” for players, only assuming that it would’ve given players who had someone with the companion app an advantage within the game.
Originally announced back when the game was first unveiled in 2013, the app would’ve allowed players on a Tablet device to join a PC or console game as a drone and provide aerial assistance to your teammates.
The Division is set to launch on March 8, for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more on The Division, be sure to check out our preview from E3.
