During the E3 Nintendo Direct, more details were revealed for the upcoming Wii U first-party title Star Fox.
First we have to mention how brilliant the muppets introduction was to the announcement. Anyway, moving swiftly on, as we expected, Star Fox was present during the E3 Nintendo Direct and we all got a little excited as we saw some classic airborn action, as we’ve come so used to seeing in the Star Fox games. Fox was also joined alongside his classic companions of Falco, Slippy and Pepper. The game also got its proper name revealed, Star Fox Zero.
Star Fox Zero takes us back to Corneria, with some classic looking stages and an interesting targetting system used for the Gamepad. All in all it looks like the classic Star Fox action on the Wii U. The Gamepad will be used primarily to aim, and then your TV will be used as a third-person view in order to get a full cinematic version of the game. Strangely enough though you’ll only be using one button to fire all of your weapons. Another button will be used to transform into different Arwing variants and barrel rolls too!
These vehicular variants will add a ton of replayability to the game by allowing players to take different approaches in order to beat each stage. There was also more details on how amiibo functionality will be implemented within the game. You can check out the trailer below.
The release date for Star Fox was also revealed and is slated to drop this year in the holiday season. A proper release date should drop in the coming months.
