Sony Still has No Intentions to Add Backwards Compatibility to PS4

"I won't say we'll never do it, but it's not an easy thing to do."

Sony Responds to Xbox Backwards Compatibility

While this has excited the masses within the Xbox community, it has also now officially sanctioned a response from PlayStation’s parent company, Sony.

President of Sony, Shuhei Yoshida, told Polygon that the company still has no intentions of bringing backwards compatibility to the PlayStation 4. Players can use the PlayStation Now feature to play their favorite older titles.

“I don’t think we will change our approach. The PlayStation 4 doesn’t have backward compatibility,” said Yoshida.

From Sony’s E3 conference, and from what Yoshida told Polygon, he made it clear that the company’s current goal is to continue creating new services, features, and uses for the PlayStation 4 console.

“The technology involved must be very challenging,” said Yoshida, “backward compatibility is hard, I won’t say we’ll never do it, but it’s not an easy thing to do. If it was easy we would have done that.”

Xbox’s first couple dozen of games listed for backwards compatibility can be found here, Xbox has promised that more will be added periodically throughout the year.
