Earlier in the month Nintendo revealed that Lucas from the Mother series was making his return to the Super Smash Bros. scene. Now today they kicked off their latest Smash Bros. Direct with another returning series vet, joining Mewtwo from Melee: Roy! For those of you keeping score at home, that now makes five separate characters in the brawler representing the Fire Emblem series.
Roy and Marth were essentially clones back in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and with Lucina’s addition in this new entry they needed to really make Roy stand out. Just like before, his attacks hit harder at the base, whereas Marth and Lucina’s strikes are more powerful at the tip. Roy is definitely a heavy-hitter, so long as you keep your enemies close.
Of course there were no Final Smash attacks back in the GameCube days of Melee, so Roy’s got a flash new “Critical Hit” to accompany him in battle. Here’s his new trophy showcasing the devastating attack, as well as Lucas’ Final Smash trophy, which can each be unlocked with the completion of All-Star mode with the respective character.
Finally, some price points. Each character, Roy and Lucas, will cost $3.99 if you buy just that character for one system – either the Wii U or 3DS. If you’d like the characters for both versions of that game, it’s a discounted $4.99 per character for cross-platform.
Now get out there and get smashing with these two returning fighters, because they are available for purchase RIGHT NOW!
