Another day, another pre-E3 announcement. Looks like Ratchet and Clank for PlayStation 4 just got its first trailer, and it’s looking real pretty.
The trailer for Ratchet and Clank shows off a lot of the different experiences available within the game, including some neat new abilities and weapons.
It all starts off with some rather lovely cinematic shots of our favourite protagonist duo, Ratchet and Clank, and then that stereotypical superhero guy appears. Then we get straight into the action with a close-up of what looks to be one of the big bad bosses you’ll be battling it out with at some point in the game. Looks like the duo will need some tricks up their sleeves to save the world this time.
And of course they do! Shortly after we see another robot stretch across a wide gap to allow Clank to stroll his way across. Oh and then Ratchet rolls in with a giant missile launcher-style weapon, now that’s what I’m talking about. We also get a little sneak peak at a weird ray-gun-esque pistol, it all looks very Ratchet and Clank, and that’s not a bad thing. Classic fans fear not, it wouldn’t be right if Ratchet didn’t have his trusty OmniWrench 8000 for those close-combat encounters.
We also see Captain Qwark offering up some new toys for Ratchet and Clank to use in their adventures, solely (in the trailer at least) a fancy new ride. This snazzy new spacecraft introduces some fun vehicular combat sections to the gameplay, hopefully these will freshen up the typical gameplay we’re used to seeing from the series. At this moment however, it is unclear whether these sections are on-rails or whether the player will have free roam to fly around to their hearts content.
The trailer currently has Ratchet and Clank slated for Spring 2016 and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of the game that’s based on a movie, based on a game during Sony’s PlayStation conference at E3 in a weeks time.
Finally the trailer promoted a pre-order bonus for those wishing to put their cash down on Ratchet and Clank. Those who do will receive a bonus exclusive bouncer weapon. We don’t have any details on it, but it sure looks like a lotta fun.
What do you make of the trailer and the announcement? Are you excited to see the return of the franchise in Ratchet and Clank? Looking forward to the movie? Let us know in the comments below.
