Mega Man Getting a TV Show in 2017

….Wha?

The Mega Man franchise has been sorta all over the place since the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 a few years back. Sure, he was in Super Smash Bros and continues to be a sought after Amiibo (right after all the other Amiibos), but the series hasn’t seen a release since Mega Man X in 2010. But it looks like all of that is about to change, since Mega Man is getting a TV series due out in 2017.

Dentsu Entertainment USA will be partnering with Man of Action (they’ve done Ben 10 and are currently working on Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble) to create a 26-episode animated series. Dentsu will hold worldwide licensing and broadcasting rights while Man of Action will write, create, and executive produce the series. With luck, it’ll be out in 2017, just in time for the series’ 30th anniversary. Presumably, this won’t have any ties to the Mega Man cartoon from the 90s or that awesome NT Warrior one from the early 2000s and will, like Sonic Boom, be a reboot for future games.

We’ve talked about games that could’ve been cartoons and this wasn’t on our list, but it could still be worth a watch. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments below.
