Old-school RPGs are definitely back and that is an essential thing for us gamers. Besides being able to revisit one of the most developed and deep game genres in gaming history, we also get to enjoy great stories and complex RPG systems. However, there’s yet another big deal about this renaissance: nostalgia. That’s where inXile Entertainment and Torment: Tides of Numenera come in.
inXile has tapped into the very source of our longing and is doing everything it can to give current gamers a taste of the golden RPG era. After its success with Wasteland 2, Brian Fargo’s team is trying to do it again with the spiritual successor of one of the great classic masterpieces of all times: Planescape: Torment.
While Torment: Tides of Numenera won’t be a sequel or prequel, it will continue the thematic legacy bestowed by Planescape: Torment. This doesn’t only mean deep and emotional topics and extremely rich characters, but also a vast multifaceted world. That is exactly what the latest project update has come to show us in the video below.
Now, even though this is early footage, there`s one thing certain: Torment: Tides of Numenera won’t be short of amazing scenery. There’s still a lot to find out about this game, especially concerning what the story will be like. inXile has already shown what it’s capable of and expectations are off the chart. Luckily, there’s a beta test scheduled for this year that will definitely make the waiting a lot easier.
